Last year I went to the Nine Worlds Geekfest, and I was back there again last weekend. I enjoyed it, and I've already bought my ticket for 2015, so I'd recommend it to anyone with similar interests.

I missed The Time of the Doctor on Christmas Day, so I watched it last night. By that point, I'd already heard a few negative reactions to it on Facebook/Twitter, which lowered my expectations, but I still wasn't particularly impressed. Yesterday (23rd November) was the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, so I watched the new episode: "The Day of the Doctor". I really enjoyed it, and I rewatched it on iPlayer as soon as it finished. When it comes to music, I generally listen to either 80s nostalgia (the type of stuff that Magic play on continuous loop), orchestral soundtracks from TV/films (e.g. Pirates of the Caribbean), or cast recordings from West End musicals (e.g. Wicked or Avenue Q). Last year, I bought an iPod; as I mentioned, I just use this for spoken word (e.g. catching up with podcasts) rather than music. I'm currently making chainmail, which I'll blog about when it's done. I watched the latest episode of Doctor Who last night, and I really enjoyed it; I now feel a bit foolish for having any doubts about the casting in the new series. I particularly liked the way that the writer "played fair" with the mystery: all the clues were there, and I kicked myself for not putting them together.

I've now watched the new Doctor Who episode, and I really enjoyed it. Steven Moffat did a good job as the writer (which I'd expected), and Matt Smith allayed my worries about the casting. The only drawback was that I'd inadvertantly read some spoilers in advance, which gave away a couple of plot points.
